CareerSpoc is a capacity-building initiative of Lex Foundation, committed to empowering underprivileged youth and families through education, employability, and livelihood support.
Our core belief
Every young person deserves a second chance to learn, build skills, pursue a career, and create a better future for themselves and their family. CareerSpoc aims to intervene before a student drops out and provide a second chance to those who have already left school. We connect education, skills, career guidance, and livelihood opportunities to help young people build a secure and dignified future.
Why CareerSpoc exists
India has made significant progress in expanding access to education, yet millions of young people continue to face barriers at critical stages of their educational journey. The transition from middle school to secondary education — and particularly the completion of Classes 9–12 — remains a major challenge for students from economically and socially disadvantaged communities.
According to UDISE+ data, approximately 3.7–3.85 crore students are enrolled in Classes 9–10 nationally each year. However, secondary-level dropout rates remain significantly higher than at earlier stages, ranging between approximately 8.2% and 11.5%. The transition to secondary education is also a major bottleneck, with a substantial proportion of students unable to progress successfully into Class 9 and beyond.
Academic failure is another critical contributor. Large numbers of students are unable to clear Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, particularly within state-board systems. For many young people, failure is not simply an academic setback — it can become the beginning of a cycle of dropout, unemployment, low-skilled work, financial hardship, and reduced opportunities for social mobility.
These challenges are further intensified by poverty, household responsibilities, the need to earn, inadequate academic support, gender-based barriers, safety and accessibility concerns, and limited awareness of alternative education and career pathways. Adolescents, particularly those from vulnerable families, often reach a point where continuing education becomes financially or socially difficult.
CareerSpoc seeks to address this critical gap by becoming a bridge between education and sustainable livelihoods. We aim to support young people who are at risk of dropping out, have discontinued their education, have failed board examinations, or require additional pathways to build employable skills and secure dignified livelihoods.
Through a combination of academic support, career guidance, skill development, vocational pathways, employability training, mentorship, and livelihood linkages, CareerSpoc aims to help young people move from vulnerability to opportunity.

CareerSpoc's mission is to empower underprivileged youth and families by providing accessible education support, career guidance, market-relevant skills, employability opportunities, and livelihood pathways that enable individuals to achieve sustainable economic and social independence.
Our vision
To create an inclusive India where every underprivileged young person has access to education, skills, career opportunities, and dignified livelihoods — regardless of their academic setbacks or socio-economic background.
We envision a future where failure in Class 10 or 12, school dropout, poverty, or lack of access to resources does not determine a young person's future. CareerSpoc aspires to build an ecosystem where vulnerable youth can discover their potential, acquire relevant skills, enter the workforce, and become financially independent contributors to their families and communities.

Preventing educational dropouts by identifying and supporting students at critical transition points, particularly during Classes 9–12.

Creating second-chance pathways for students who have failed or discontinued their Class 10 or Class 12 education.

Part of Lex Foundation
CareerSpoc operates under Lex Foundation, a volunteer-run foundation supporting communities facing discrimination, inequality, and limited access to opportunity — independent of political, economic, and religious interests. CareerSpoc is Lex Foundation's capacity-building work applied specifically to education, employability, and livelihood support for young people.
